If you’ve ever wondered where your tax dollars are going, the government has a new web site for you to check out: https://www.usaspending.gov.
The web site breaks down the $3.85 trillion that was spent by the federal government in 2016 into various categories. You can also see how much money was awarded to each state.
If you want another perspective on this, Microsoft co-founder and tech billionaire Steve Ballmer recently launched: https://www.usafacts.org/. According to Ballmer, the government should be subject to the same scrutiny as publicly traded companies which are required file a “10-K” disclosure statement with a comprehensive summary of their performance over the past year.
Both these web sites are in the “beta” stage of development and they’re looking for feedback; so please check them out!
